DNCD seizes over 500,000 grams of drugs in nationwide operations

Santo Domingo.- The National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), alongside the National Police and coordinated by the Public Ministry, confiscated more than 500,000 grams of cocaine, marijuana, crack, and other illicit substances in a series of raids conducted across several provinces.

During anti-microtrafficking operations, authorities arrested 2,537 individuals and seized 366,109 grams of cocaine, 118,744 grams of marijuana, 17,458 grams of crack, 100 grams of hashish, 7.50 grams of methamphetamine, and 116 ecstasy pills. Additionally, 13 firearms, 119 knives and machetes, 7 vehicles, 214 motorcycles, 732 cell phones, 30 communication radios, 3 bulletproof vests, 228 scales, and 2 slot machines were confiscated, along with cash and other evidence.

The operations targeted regions including Greater Santo Domingo, La Vega, Santiago, San Cristobal, and several others. So far in 2024, over seven million grams of drugs have been seized, highlighting the government’s commitment to fighting drug trafficking and sales.

Why do they speak in numbers difficult to understand for the general population. 500K Grams is how many kilos. People wants to hear about kilos, not grams. 500K Grams is just 500 KG. Not, such of a big number. But as usual, the politicians likes to make the numbers look bigger than they are.
