Constitutional reform voting begins

Santo Domingo.- The National Revisory Assembly has initiated the voting process for a constitutional reform, with 212 deputies present, despite the absence of 10 legislators. To ensure transparency and accuracy, the vote is being conducted manually according to article 67 of the internal regulations. Four appointed mayordomos are responsible for counting votes section by section, publicly announcing the results and positions of each member.

Assembly President Pacheco encouraged the opposition to engage in the debate, stressing the importance of their participation. However, key opposition figures, such as Omar Fernández of Fuerza del Pueblo, expressed disinterest in discussing the reform, maintaining their stance of non-participation.
