Indrhi reports flood damage to rice crops in Dajabón

Dajabón.- The National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (Indrhi) has reported that recent flooding of the Masacre River, triggered by heavy rains, has damaged over 4,000 tasks of rice crops in Dajabón’s border zone. Indrhi’s head of operations, Engineer Juan Carlos Nova, explained that a damage assessment was conducted under the guidance of Executive Director Olmedo Caba Romano, focusing on agricultural land and riverbank areas impacted by the river’s overflow.

Engineer Nova assured that the hydraulic irrigation infrastructure remains intact but highlighted the need for extensive protection works along the river to prevent future floods from endangering agricultural production and nearby communities. Immediate interventions are underway to facilitate access for farmers, while the design team develops long-term solutions to safeguard the area.
