Faride Raful: Investigation of commercial airliner shooting falls to Haiti
Santo Domingo.- Interior and Police Minister Faride Raful stated that the investigation into the shooting incident involving a U.S. commercial airliner in Haitian airspace is the responsibility of Haitian authorities. Raful noted that flights to Haiti have been suspended by presidential order, and she assured the public that Dominican airspace and borders are secure, with security agencies on alert to safeguard national sovereignty.
Raful also commented on the investigation into the sale of ammunition from National Police depots, explaining that the Public Prosecutor’s Office has jurisdiction over the matter. She described the investigation as complex, involving multiple individuals, and confirmed that the Public Prosecutor’s Office will publicly disclose details about those involved once the legal process advances.
The minister made these remarks at the launch of the Connected Detachments project by the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications. This initiative, starting with La 40 police detachment in Cristo Rey, will establish technological connectivity in over 60 detachments across the country, allowing complaints to be filed digitally and monitored in real-time by various governmental institutions.
