Supérate Director addresses concerns over Christmas bonus eligibility

Santo Domingo.- In response to allegations of irregularities in the allocation of the Christmas bonus, Gloria Reyes, director of the Supérate program, clarified that being listed in the system does not guarantee receiving the bonus. Reyes explained that the program introduced a consultation platform for citizens to verify eligibility. However, appearing in the database does not confirm an assigned bonus; beneficiaries must physically collect it with proper identification.

Reyes emphasized that eligible recipients include individuals earning less than 30,000 pesos, unemployed persons, and those deemed vulnerable, according to the Social Security Treasury. This approach aims to ensure that resources are allocated to those most in need.

Addressing specific concerns, Reyes noted that the system also includes retired individuals. She referenced former president Leonel Fernández, who criticized his inclusion as a beneficiary. Reyes dismissed the implication, humorously stating that Fernández is unlikely to collect the benefit in person.
