International Forum of Afro-Descendants calls for end to Haitian deportations

Santo Domingo.- Darío Solano, coordinator of the International Forum of Afro-descendants, called on the Dominican government to cease what he described as illegal and discriminatory deportations of Haitians. Solano criticized the country’s immigration policy, labeling it racist, and urged for a more inclusive approach.

The statement was made during the opening of the “Bicentennial Forum for Afro-descendant Reparations,” held at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO). The event, organized by RedAfros and 13 other organizations, focuses on “Racial Justice with Climate Justice” and features discussions on historical reparations, racial discrimination, and environmental impacts on Afro-descendant communities.

Delegations from 15 countries are participating in the forum, which coincides with significant milestones, including the end of the International Decade for People of African Descent, the bicentennial of slavery abolition in Central America, and the 200th anniversary of freed African Americans settling in Hispaniola. The event aims to unite social and ethnic movements across the Americas to advocate for racial justice and demand a new UN decade addressing the legacy of slavery.

I just don’t understand. Just admit that you wanna unite the island. You want Haitians to freely go into the Dominican Republic. They do not respect the Dominican Republic as a sovereign nation.
