Abinader inaugurates Miches-Zona Turística Aqueduct

El Seibo.- President Luis Abinader and Wellington Arnaud, executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewers (Inapa), inaugurated the Miches-Zona Turística Multiple Aqueduct in El Seibo province ahead of schedule. The RD$2,118,000,000 project will provide high-quality, pressurized water to over 33,000 residents and support the region’s growing hotel sector, fulfilling the government’s commitment to local municipalities and the tourism industry.
The aqueduct includes a 300-liter-per-second treatment plant, two intakes on the Jovero and Yeguada rivers, a two-million-gallon storage tank, and a distribution network meeting international quality standards. The project aims to ensure a stable water supply while supporting the sustainable development of the coastal town.
Arnaud also highlighted efforts to educate children on environmental conservation, announcing the construction of a classroom for local students. Additionally, the aqueduct’s regulating reservoir will feature a scenic viewing point, enhancing the area’s appeal for visitors and further integrating infrastructure with tourism development.
Why waste all of this tax payer money in grand opening ceremonies for simple basic little projects like this one or any other little road bridges toll booths buildings etc… could be much better spend for so much poorness and other places on this island. ??
