Government believes alliances with the private sector would boost tourism projects in the North

Finance Minister Donald Guerrero affirmed that the new highway Santiago-Puerto Plata and the Port of Manzanillo are tourism projects in which the state is interested in the private sector participating with alliances.

He indicated that the Dominican government sees the private sector as a strategic partner for investment, and public-private partnerships (PPPs) are a first-level instrument to achieve this.

He explained that PPPs have been a mechanism that, well structured, has served to finance the construction, operation, and maintenance of a significant amount of infrastructure projects in the world.

Guerrero offered these details in the framework of the ninth edition of PPP Americas 2019, the most important discussion forum on public-private partnerships in Latin America and the Caribbean, held by the Inter-American Development Bank ( IDB ) in Punta Cana.
