US Embassy welcomes Ruth Urry, new Cultural Attaché

Santo Domingo.- US EmbassyPublic Affairs councilor James Russo on Wednesday hosted a reception in hisresidence to welcome the mission´s new Cultural Attaché, ??Ruth Urry

Urry has directed theEmbassy´s Cultural Section since last August, and includes events and aspectsof bilateral cooperation in culture and academia.

Prior to herappointment to the Dominican Republic Urry worked as Public Diplomacy officer inGuatemala City and has also carried out diplomatic duties in Manila and Bogota. She has alsoworked in the Washington D.C. Operations Center as part of the US representationto the Organization of American States (OAS).

Hailing fromPortland, Oregon, Urry´s academic accomplishments include degree in Hispanic-Americanliterature from Reed College and an MBA from Tulane University in LatinAmerican Studies as well as a master’s degree in political science fromGeorgetown University.

Her husband NormanGalimba and their two children, Tommy, 5, and Naomi, 3 will accompany thediplomat during her stay in the country.
