Santo Domingo.- The National Housing Institute (Invi) will build 48 homes in Samaná (east) worth RD$450,000 (US$9,400) each to house people living in the caves of that province.
“It seems a lie, but it’s a reality. We went and contacted people who are living in caves for many years. In coordination with the provincial governor, we’re bilding a neighborhood with a church to transfer all the families and move them to a safer, quieter place,” said Invi director, Mayobanex Escoto.
The official added that the church can also serves as a shelter during storms.
