FAO warns more must be done to end hunger

Santo Domingo.- World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) representative in the Dominican Republic, Carmelo Gallardo, affirmed Tues. that although there is always more to be done, there is ample political will in the country to work in pursuit of lowering poverty.

Gallardo’s statement responds to questions on Dominican Republic’s political will in and if it’s doing what’s necessary to achieve FAO’s objective of “Zero Hunger.”

“One thing is political will and another thing is what is necessary and what is necessary is never enough, I believe that there is still a bit of lack of political will, there are however all the public programs that the current government has in school feeding and social protection,” Gallardo added.
