First victory for DR at FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix

Olomouc, Czech Republic.- Gina Mambru’s 17 points led the Dominican Republic to their first victory of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 Group 2, by beating Bulgaria 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-23) on Friday.

Both teams have met already last week at the tournament in Tucuman, Argentina, where Bulgaria defeated Dominican Republic 3-2. Bulgarians finished the first weekend unbeaten, recording their first upset Friday and ending their winning streak.

Gina Mambru scored 17 points for her team, while Bulgarian Captan Eva Yaneva recorded 16.

"It was very important for us to win three points in this match, because we want to get to the Final Four this year. We knew it won’t be an easy match today, but we must now continue to work, turn the page and think about Canada tomorrow", Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek said.
