Double gold for Estrella in the Central American Games

Barranquilla, Colombia.- Top Dominican tennis player Víctor Estrella Burgos won a third consecutive gold medal in the men’s singles final, playing against compatriot Roberto Cid.
Estrella beat Cid in two straight sets (6-4, 6-3) thus winning his third gold at the Central American and Caribbean Games. Cid, a promising young player, won the silver.
The Dominican Republic has won a total of 66 medals in the games: 19 gold, 16 silver and 31 bronze medals.
Estrella is the first male tennis player to win three golds in a row in the Central American and Caribbean Games.
He also won a second gold medal together with Roberto Cid in the finals of the men’s doubles against Christopher Díaz and Wilfredo González from Guatemala.
