Dominican Republic falls 2-0 to Ecuador in U-17 Women’s World Cup debut

Santiago.- The Dominican Republic lost 2-0 to Ecuador in their debut match at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, held on Wednesday, October 16, at Cibao FC Stadium in Santiago de los Caballeros. Ecuador’s Jaslym Valverde scored both goals at the 14th and 28th minutes, securing the victory.

Despite strong efforts by Sedofútbol, including near chances from Natalie Bruno, Renata Mercedes, and Julia Jiménez, Ecuador managed to maintain control and win the match. The Dominican team will face New Zealand in their second match on Saturday, October 19, also at Cibao FC Stadium.

Group A is currently led by Nigeria and Ecuador, with the Dominican Republic and New Zealand at the bottom after their respective losses.
