Colonial Zone RD$100.0 M+ redo draws ‘serious’ investment

Santo Domingo.- The 9-1-1 emergency response system and construction of parking lots are some of the new pluses which will revive the capital’s Colonial Zone, in which the government has spent more than RD$100.0 million.

The refurbished Colonial Zone is projected to draw new private investment, after two years with hobbled commerce and a renovation that seeks to showcase its attractions.

Colonial Zone Tourism Development Program director Maribel Villalona said the main idea in this type of project is to generate credibility and security for private investment.

"The private sector has been hesitant to invest in the area during 20 years, because the state failed materialize this kind of work, but now this sector began to invest seriously,“ the official said, quoted by elcaribe.com.do.
