Tourism’s 10%+ forecast growth is ‘the sector’s best time’

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia on Friday said a 10% growth in visitors is expected this year, surpassing last year, as the sector “enjoys its best time.”

Speaking during groundbreaking for the Cap Cana Secrets Resorts and Spa hotel, to be built at a cost of more than US$160 million, Garcia said the project comes at a high point in Dominican Republic’s tourism development, as evidenced by the high bookings from major tour operators.

The official lauded president Danilo Medina’s “outstanding job in the tourism sector and for the entire country” and congratulated the project’s developers Secrets, of the Apple Leisure Group
