Making tourism accessible to the physically challenged

Santo Domingo.- The 1st annual Congress on Accessible Tourism in Dominican Republic opened Thursday to publicize the need to increase the number of foreign visitors with special physical conditions, where local and international public and private entities analyze business opportunities and the niche market’s challenges.

This event which promotes the creation of a National Tourism Strategic Plan is being held at the APEC (UNAPEC) University campus, organized by the Tourism Faculty in coordination with the Assistance Center (CENATUR) and the company Colorblind Design.

UNAPEC president Radhames Mejía delivered the keynote speech for the event, which counts on the support of the Spain’s Accessible Tourism Network (REDESTABLE) and the International Social Tourism Organization for the Americas (ISTO-ISTO).
