300,000+ Dominicans expected home for the holidays: Official

Santo Domingo.- AirportsDept. director Marino Collante on Monday said more than 300,000 Dominicans livingabroad are expected to arrive the country through the various airports during December.

He said his agency coordinatessecurity measures with the National Police to prevent assaults against Dominicansand foreign visitors on the Las Americas Highway, noting that criminals takeadvantage on the increased influx in December to rob arriving visitors and locals.

The official said healso coordinates security measures at airports with Civil Aviation and AirportSecurity Corp (CESAC) to protect facilities, aircraft, passengers and baggage.

Collante said LasAmericas, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, La Romana, Santiago and El Higuero airportsare prepared for the holiday arrivals.
