East Region: New US$80M clinic aims to boost health tourism

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- President Danilo Medina led ribbon-cutting for the US$80 million facility of the International Medical Group (IMG), expected to boost health tourism especially in the country’s east region.

Clinic stakeholder Carlos Prats congratulated Medina and said the center aims to help turn Punta Cana into the Caribbean’s medicine Tourism Hub.

The medical center was built under strict US regulations and quality standards of the Joint International Commission and of the Dominican Public Health Ministry.

Prats said the clinic’s strategic location at the center of Punta Cana and near the international airport makes direct links to various cities easy, in addition to being close to the hotels and residential complexes.

Also present in the ceremony were Public Health minister Altagracia Guzmán, Tourism minister Francisco Javier García, as well as tourism sector personalities.
