Colonial City goes pedestrian only

Santo Domingo.- Mayor Carolina Mejía on Tue. ordered that the central part of the Colonial City, a historical and tourist environment, operate as pedestrian only, on Saturday October 17 and Sunday 18.

Mejía explained that via an agreement with the traffic police, Ministry of Tourism and the Colonial City Merchants Association, the perimeter of the city will be declared pedestrian, as a way to encourage its use as a tourist destination.
