Josep Borrell voices support for abolishing Schengen Visa for Dominicans

Josep Borrell expressed his support for the request to abolish the Schengen visa, allowing Dominicans to access Europe with ease. “I understand that you are taking the necessary measures regarding biometric passports,” Borrell stated. He appreciated the hosting of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit in the country, which he claimed highlighted the Dominican Republic’s role as a link between Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe.

Furthermore, he indicated that the country’s political stability and economic progress serve as an anchor for cooperation with the continent.

At the same time, President Abinader emphasized that Borrell delivered an optimistic speech at the Summit, thanking him for his visit. During the meeting, they discussed topics of significant interest to the Dominican Republic and of concern to the European Union, including the situation in Haiti. The issue of eliminating the Schengen visa for Dominicans was also discussed.
