Biden envoy to address Haiti crisis

Tomorrow, the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, will host an official visit from the United States Department of State’s Undersecretary, Wendy Sherman. During her visit, Sherman, who has held the position since April 2021, is set to meet with Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez and other high-ranking government officials. Her visit comes as the Dominican Foreign Minister requested an explanation from the US government for a travel alert issued by its embassy in Santo Domingo last November for African-American citizens, in response to increased operations by the General Directorate of Migration (DGM).

According to a State Department statement, Sherman’s visit aims to strengthen “strong and enduring bilateral ties on a wide range of issues, including the urgent situation in Haiti.”

The US State Department official will also meet with representatives of Dominican civil society and is considering a meeting with alumni of the US Government scholarship and leadership programs. Sherman’s visit follows the participation of the Special Presidential Advisor for the Americas, Chris Dodd, in the Ibero-American Summit held in the Dominican Republic.

She should be meeting with the Haitian prime minister and the Haitian gang leaders in Haiti, not with the Dominican president in DR. Unless she comes to put more pressure on DR to assimilate more illegals than what we already have.

why do they need to talk to DR when they should be addressing this shit in their country? all we should be doing is closing the border and deporting at this point
