Dominican government to cooperate with Amazonas State
Santo Domingo.- Ambassador Patricia Villegas de Jorge, representing the Dominican Republic in Brazil, made a landmark visit to the state of Amazonas. This visit marks the first official engagement by a Dominican diplomat in the region. She was accompanied by a technical delegation from the Dominican embassy, the Ministry of the Environment, and the honorary consul in Manaus.
During this visit, Ambassador Villegas de Jorge and the Governor of Amazonas, Wilson Miranda Lima, signed a “historic Memorandum of Understanding.” This agreement sets the stage for cooperation aimed at fostering development between the Dominican Republic and Amazonas, often referred to as the “lungs of the world.” The collaboration will focus on innovation, education, culture, tourism, security, sustainability, and environmental initiatives, alongside the exchange of best practices and public policies.
Governor Miranda expressed his appreciation for the visit, stating, “We are honored to host the first official visit from the Dominican Republic at our headquarters.”
