US seeks “more normal” relations between Dominican Republic and Haiti

Washington.- Dominican President Luis Abinader and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken are set to meet this Friday in Santo Domingo, with Haiti expected to be a central topic of their discussions, according to the U.S. State Department.

Blinken will address security concerns in Haiti and emphasize the importance of “more normal relations” between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Brian Nichols, the U.S. State Department’s lead official for Latin America, highlighted that both nations are naturally interconnected, and this relationship will be a key focus in conversations with leaders on both sides of the border.

Nichols also acknowledged the significant assistance the Dominican Republic provides to Haiti, expressing Washington’s hope for improved and stable ties between the two neighbors. This comes after a period of tension last year, when relations soured due to Haiti’s construction of a canal on the border river Masacre, leading President Abinader to close air, sea, and land borders with Haiti in protest.

Blinken and the usa are not the friends of Dominicans. The americans need to shut their mouths and stay out of Dominican affairs! Never trust americans!

Do you remember when feelings and tensions were getting high, in 1964. What happened April 28, 1965? Tranquilo.

Do not trust this biden official. DR has every right to protect itself and prosper without being burdened by a foreign country that has NO connection to us. Mind your own business, Americanos.

Hmmm… And by establishing “more normal” relations, do they mean taking in 3 million Haitian refugees at the expense of our government, our resources and Dominican taxpayers? If Uncle Tom expects us to carry the burden of a failed state, he needs to seriously reconsider his agenda, it ain’t gonna fly with us bud….

The hate will not fly, aren’t 80 % of Dominicans are Haitian descents? why so much hate for your own blood? Haiti is a sister nation to DR, the same way some ignorant Dominicans are treating Haitians the same way they will be treated. keep your mouth shut , and stop spreading hate towards my country and my fellow citizens . the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. latè se pou Bondye wi, when you die make you take DR with you in the grave.

Let me tell you something let’s keep it straight:, Haitians will never be Dominicans, nor Dominicans will ever, ever, be Hitians. YOU haitiams have always hated us, have always wanted to steal our land. You want to have what we have been able to achieve. You are Vodoo people we are culturally very different, even though we may have the same skin color but, we come from different places, way of living, mental conditions we would never have those GANGS killing our OWN.
I am old enough to remember hearing my Parents, talk about the atrocities that gangs of Haitians did in DR many many years ago, we don’t forget that.
It’s more than SKIN COLOR, dont get it wrong.

Dominicans will never never be like the Haitians and Haitians are NOT DOMINICANS!!
You take never contribute anything, You believe we are responsible for you blame the FRENCH, CANADA USA and YOURSELF !!

True Dominicans are of Spanish, African and Taino origin. 99% of us do not come from Haitian lineage. The word Haitian in DR is even used as an insult.

No you guys came from us and now there’s a border that says stay the fuck out of the Dominican Republic. You just made a psychological statement and think we don’t see it. Divide and conquer right “OH 80 percent of you are of Hatian decent please let us in” Where the fuck do you get 80 percent first of and second fix your country and leave us alone. #simple The dark, brown, and light skin Dominicans are Dominicans and that’s it. Your little statement trying to blend us all together is not gonna work. But, I do have a question. Are the light skin Haitians of Haiti of Dominican decent? Lol

This the problem with the Haitians and Haitian dominikano. They don’t know the Dominican struggle and history. we just share the island. we have nothing in common. they hate us bc of our success. Its sad that they would rather come to dr and work for nothing then too fix there own country. and the ones that do leave never go back or they try to buy houses in the Dominican republic.

Haitians coming across the border only create high crime rates, critical drain on the economy and filth.
