The family of the deceased prospect has been facing threats in response to their calls for justice. Joel Ureña, Ismael’s brother, voiced their frustration, stating they had been threatened and unable to leave their home since the incident. Iris Pérez, Ismael’s mother, passionately appealed for justice, stressing that the loss of her son was deeply painful, and they simply sought accountability.
In response, the National Baseball Commissioner, Junior Noboa, and Judge Olga Diná Llaverías from the National Directorate of Children, Adolescents and Family (Dinnaf) announced that an investigation would be launched into Ureña’s death. Noboa emphasized that those responsible for doping minors and falsifying documents would face serious consequences, with full support from President Luis Abinader to address these issues.
