Participación Ciudadana denounces false accusations over USAID funds

Santo Domingo.- The civic movement Participación Ciudadana (PC) has rejected accusations of misusing funds received from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), calling the claims part of a false campaign based on unreliable sources.
Miriam Díaz Santana, a representative of PC, emphasized that the organization has always won USAID funding through international competitions for projects that strengthen democracy, civil society, and anti-corruption efforts. Executive Director Fátima Lorenzo reaffirmed that all financial records are publicly available and that every project undergoes mandatory audits to ensure transparency.
PC member Josefina Arvelo challenged accusers to present concrete evidence, stating that baseless rumors should not be enough to discredit the institution. The statements were made during the presentation of Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) report.
