AES Dominicana wins its first top safety award from AES Corp.
Santo Domingo.- AES Dominicana on Thurs. announced that it has, for the first time obtained the Golden Hard Hat award, AES Corporation’s highest global prize on security.
AES Corp. senior vice president and COO Bernerd Da Santos said the Golden Hard Hat award was created in 2009 to honor and reward an AES business which each year implements and obtains significant improvements in management and safety performance, which develops and deploy new security techniques or practices, and can apply and benefit other AES businesses, which implement similar proactive practices systematically.
"Our commitment to safety in AES comes first for our people, contractors and the communities we serve. The winner in 2014 represents what it means to be committed, caring and on top of safety. The AES Dominicana companies and close to its 300 employees and contractors have created a culture of world-class safety. Together they achieved a 97% rating in the DuPont Safety Perception Survey 2013," said Da Santos during the awards.
"We’re proud that AES Dominicana gets this recognition, a company that has kept increasing safety standards year after year. AES Andres has held this indicator during six years," said AES Dominicana president Edwin De los Santos.
Energy and Mines minister Pelegrin Castillo also spoke in the activity, and said safety in the workplace is part of his department’s vision on energy security it promotes.
Together with Da Santos, AES Corp, the president for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean Strategic Business Unit, Manuel Pérez Dubuc and Global VP for Finance Tom O’Flynn attended the activity, also accompanied by AES Dominicana local partners Felix Garcia and Manuel Estrella, Angel Guastaferro represented AES Andres/DPP, and Benjamín Villalobos, for Itabo.
