Santo Domingo.- 71 percent of Dominicans believe that the country is on the wrong track, well above the 52% of their opinion in 2016, according to the most recent Mark Penn survey published on Mon.
According to the public opinion study on Dominican Republic’s political situation, the overall opinion is that the country is on the wrong track for the majority among women over 50 years of age.
Of those surveyed, 54 percent believe that the country is on the wrong track, while 43% believe otherwise.
In the last survey -published in October 2016-, 54% thought that the country was on the wrong track, a perception that hadn’t changed since January 2016 when it was 52%.
Among the country’s main problems, the survey found that 39% said it was crime, followed by corruption with 19%, unemployment with 19% and the cost of living with 11%.
Of those polled, 59% claimed to be independent, 23% of the PLD (in 2016, it was 40 -41%), 11% PRM, 3% PRD, and 1% of the PRSC party.
The poll, published Monday was conducted from Aug. 2 to 6, with 1,005 likely voters in the Dominican Republic, has a margin of error of ± 3.1.
