All set for Brazilian plane maker US$3.5M bribe trial

Santo Domingo.- The conditions are set for the Office of the Prosecutor to unseal the indictment against those charged with taking US$3.5 million in admitted bribes from Brazilian plane maker Embraer to secure the purchase of eight Super Tucano warplanes.

The National District Court of Appeals ruled against a challenge by former Armed Forces secretary, Pedro Rafael Peña Antonio, against interim judge Raquel Astacio, who will hear the case in the National District 4th Instruction Court.

Astacio was assigned to the case after magistrate Yanibet Rivas on Thurs. recused herself given her participation in the plea bargaining with Peña, Air Force Colonel, Carlos Piccini Núñez, businessmen Daniel Aquino Hernández, Daniel Aquino Méndez, Ysrael Abreu Rosario, the notary Felix del Orbe Berroa, and the companies 4D Business Group and Magycorp, and Embraer.
