Major Dominican port gets the first cold inspection chamber

Santo Domingo.- Haina International Terminals (Hit) on Tues. inaugurated the first cold inspection chamber in a Dominican port.

The chamber will allow when required, the inspection of any perishable product that enters or leaves the country. The procedure is carried out in an optimal ambiance and temperature to prevent the spoilage of the goods.

“With an assured cold chain we can reach the most demanding markets with our fruits, our vegetables and our livestock products,” said HIT president Erik Alma during ribbon cutting attended by US ambassador, Robin Bernstein; Agriculture minister, Osmar Benítez and Customs director Enrique Ramírez.
