Agents nab 250 packages likely drugs on ship from Peru

Santo Domingo.- Antinarcotics (DNCD) agents seized 250 packages presumably cocaine or heroin in a container on a freighter from Peru which docked at Caucedo Multimodal Port.

The DNCD said on Monday that six people have been arrested in the searches helped by Army and Navy intelligence services, the National Investigations Dept. (DNI) and the Port Security Corp (CESEP).

The powder seized was hidden in six black bags inside one of the containers aboard the ship Bodo Schultes, operated by the Hamburg Sud shipping company.

DNCD spokesman Miguel Medina said the packages seized were hidden within dozens of personal effects inside 20-foot container number SUDU1417385.
