Agents seize 112 packets of cocaine at major port

Santo Domingo.- In a joint operation the National Investigations Department (DNI) and the Caucedo Port Military Security seized Tuesday night 112 packages of cocaine from a container bound for Livorno, Italy, aboard the freighter Harmmonia Bavaria, reports Listin Diario citing sources.

The DNI found the drug after gathering intelligence during several weeks, after noting that the traffickers’ networks have changed their shipping routines, splitting loads to thwart investigators.

“The investigators who searched the 20 foot container # GESU2945886 before shipping noticed that its seal had signs of tampering, and immediately went into alert,” Listin reports citing sources.
