North region business leaders back top Prosecutor in corruption fight

Santiago.- North region business leaders on Thursday voiced support for Justice minister Francisco Dominguez in his effort to prosecute government corruption and fight for transparency.

He said president Danilo Medina supports the fight against corruption.

Dominguez met with Santiago Business Association president Sandy Filpo, Luis Miguel Lama, of the Industrialists of Santiago (ACIS), and Jose Bonilla, of the Free Zone Industries Association, among others.

Lama said it’s important to fight for transparency as a cornerstone of legal security.

Dominguez thanked the business leaders for their support and affirmed that the rule of law must prevail in society. "The Justice Ministry’s only intention is for justice and truth to prevail and encourage all stakeholders to contribute to the fight for transparency."

The show of support is the latest for Dominguez, whose effort to prosecute senator Felix Bautista -a close collaborator of his former boss, ex president Leonel Fernandez- has collided with stiff resistance.
