Santo Domingo.- Vowing to continue the trail blazed by President Danilo Medina, and as an example for Dominican Republic’s ruling party (PLD), Senate president Reinaldo Pared officially launched Monday night his bid for the National Palace in the 2016 elections.
Among the reasons which led him to seek his party’s presidential nomination, the lawmaker said he feels committed "with the same degree of responsibility with the reforms" promoted by Medina, who in his view, "has set the pace for politicians to follow, who like me, with humility and discipline, and always looking for consensus and harmony, seek positive changes in our country."
In his speech as a presidential candidate, Pared also affirmed that he’s experienced and has been preparing since the first of the PLD’s three consecutive terms in office.
"Prepared by the experience of having been part of Dominican Republic’s dynamic economic transformation and modernization, fueled by the Party President and former President of the Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández Reyna" Pared said in the event held at the hotel Meliá
Pared joins Economy minister Temistocles Montas and Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia as presidential hopefuls, while Leonel Fernandez is also expected to announce his bid.
