Soldiers wielding assault rifles hijack container with cocaine

Santo Domingo.- Defense minister Sigfrido Pared on Friday confirmed that a group of soldiers with assault rifles hijacked a container with 173 packages of cocaine at Haina Port last Sunday, April 13.

He confirmed reports that the members of the military kept Antinarcotics (DNCD) agents from inspecting a truck at the site and its driver fled the scene.

Pared said several soldiers are under investigation.

The seized drug came in a container from Colombia, with 36 packages seized on Sunday, but arrived at Caucedo Multimodal Port from Peru.
