Professionals should stick to the protocol, prevent dengue deaths

Santo Domingo.- Public Health minister Freddy Hidalgo yesterday urged medical professionals in health centers to stick to the protocol and prevent deaths when attending patients who arrive with dengue-like symptoms.

He also called on the public to take preventive measures against breeding areas of the mosquito that carries the virus and to go to the health centers when there are symptoms such as fever, headaches and overall discomfort.

To the end of July, the country officially posted 47 dengue deaths and around 7,000 suspected cases.

Hidalgo said people should be aware of the Health Ministry’s guidelines on the preventive actions, including social mobilization, agreements with municipalities, and a radio and television educational campaign, in addition to the information provided by the health centers.
