Santo Domingo.- On Friday, Yunior Taveras, the Northern Regional Director of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), reported an intervention on the General José Durán Highway, specifically the Jarabacoa La Vega section, due to a landslide.
The landslide has impacted half of the road’s width in Paraje la Pista, Paso Bajito, leading to the prevention of heavy vehicle passage. Acero Estrella, the appointed company, has commenced repairs to avoid a complete blockage of traffic.
Taveras assured a swift resolution, emphasizing that the instructions from the ministry’s minister, Deligne Ascención, prioritize the highway’s significance for transporting agricultural products and supporting the local tourism sector. He clarified that light vehicles and motorcycles are permitted to travel, with the restriction on heavy vehicles in place until the passage is adapted to prevent the affected section from collapsing entirely.
