Moca, DR.- President Luis Abinader officially inaugurated the Virginia Ferreira ITLA Regional Educational Technology Center in this province on Sunday afternoon, intending to offer specialized technology training and fostering employment opportunities for youth throughout the North-Cibao region.
Indotel has contributed over 60 million pesos to this significant project. The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Indotel President Nelson Arroyo and ITLA Rector Omar Méndez, underscoring the collaborative effort and commitment to technological advancement in the region.
Méndez stated that the educational offerings at this institution will include diplomas, courses, and workshops in software development, data science, information networks, cybersecurity, multimedia, mechatronics, computer security, and languages.
“In this innovative educational center, they will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and develop crucial competencies and skills that will provide them with ample opportunities in various fields,” he emphasized.
Indotel President Nelson Arroyo highlighted that this ITLA facility symbolizes President Abinader’s government’s commitment to the country’s comprehensive development.
“Today, we celebrate more than the opening of an educational center. We celebrate a shared vision of a prosperous future, where technology becomes the catalyst for change and progress in the Cibao region,” emphasized the Indotel chief.
The new center features 7 laboratories, over 600 state-of-the-art technological equipment, and a high-speed broadband internet service network. The facility also includes a bookstore, library, sports areas, and administrative zones, designed to offer a comprehensive and quality educational experience. The center houses a language school open to all citizens interested in strengthening their linguistic skills.
This project aligns with the Dominican government’s mission to expand access to quality technological education and close the digital divide in the Dominican Republic.
Also present were Senator for Santiago, Eduardo Estrella; the governors of Santiago, Rosa Santos, and Montecristi, Nelsy Cruz; BID representative Manuel Rodríguez Porcel; Santiago’s mayor-elect, Ulises Rodríguez; Edenorte’s general manager, Andrés Cueto, and former Minister of Public Health, Daniel Rivera.
