David Collado confirmed as Minister of Tourism for two more years

Santo Domingo.- David Collado will continue leading the Ministry of Tourism for at least two more years, following his reappointment by President Luis Abinader during the swearing-in of his second term. Collado, who enjoys strong support from the country’s tourism and banking sectors, was one of several ministers reaffirmed in their positions.

Collado announced that the Dominican Republic is on track to reach 11.5 million visitors this year. He highlighted that the country has experienced its best January through July period in tourism history, with nearly seven million visitors in the first seven months. Collado emphasized that tourism significantly contributed to the nation’s economic growth in 2023, accounting for over 30% of the total, with more than $9,000 million in foreign currency generated.
