Venezuelan Minister Cabello demands Dominican Republic settle $350 million oil debt

Venezuela.- Venezuelan Minister Diosdado Cabello has once again addressed Dominican President Luis Abinader, demanding payment of $350 million that he claims the Dominican Republic owes Venezuela for oil. Speaking during the weekly press conference of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Cabello criticized Abinader, accusing him of acting naively by assuming that the United States would never take action against the Dominican Republic.

Cabello emphasized that Abinader must first settle the debt to Venezuela before commenting on the country’s affairs. “Pay the $350 million you owe, so you have the moral standing to talk about the people of Venezuela,” he stated.

Cabello also referred to a previous instance when he claimed Abinader supported him out of convenience, but insisted that the Dominican Republic should pay its debt to Venezuela to have the right to speak on such matters.
