Putin and Maduro meet to strengthen Russia-Venezuela partnership

Moscow/Kazan.- Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro in Kazan today, marking Maduro’s first international trip since the political crisis in July. Putin highlighted Venezuela as one of Russia’s longstanding and reliable partners, emphasizing the growing strategic partnership between the two nations. He noted increasing bilateral trade and cooperation in sectors such as energy, pharmaceuticals, transport, space exploration, and new technologies.

Maduro welcomed Russian investment, praising Venezuela’s economic recovery and positive growth indicators despite years of crisis. He expressed readiness to deepen trade and investment ties with Russia and emphasized the strengthening of business alliances.

Maduro also reaffirmed Venezuela’s commitment to the BRICS bloc, seeing it as key to building a multipolar world and promoting equality, freedom, and prosperity for the global South. He described BRICS as the epicenter of the new global geopolitical landscape and a source of hope for developing nations.
