2nd Dominican city ready to be a top Caribbean tourism destination

Puerto Plata.- SantiagoTourism Destination Cluster president Ramon Paulino on Monday said the province´sstrategic tourism development plan is ready to implement in the coming months.

The business leader, speakingin a press conference during the annual Discover Puerto Plata MarketPlace beingheld at the Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Resort in Cofresi, said the strategicplan will bolster the province, as well as develop Santiago destination´s culturaland historic routes.

Paulino said a tourismand a provincial route map, a museum, the cluster´s website, 20 trained tourguides, among other programs have already been designed.

He said the strategicplan seeks to turn Santiago province into a sustainable tourist destination.

He said the Cluster´smore than 70 sector agencies seek to make Santiago one of the Caribbean region´smost attractive tourism destinations and thanked the National CompetitivenessCouncil, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Dominican Tourism Ministryfor their support.
