Top Dominican official’s nephew is also a cop

Santo Domingo.- Eduardo Villamán Fadul, nephew of the powerful Interior and Police minister Jose Ramon (Monchy) Fadul, gets a monthly check from the National Police and as vice-consul based in New York, but lives in the city of Santiago.

Investigative journalist Marino Zapete uncovered a photo of Villamán in a police uniform Thursday.

Villamán unleashed a scandal last week when a video showed him insulting two traffic cops who stopped him for running a red light, repeatedly calling them "turds" and "pieces of shit." He then ran over one foot of one of the officers, resulting in several fractures.

"Turds, you don’t know who you’re messing with!" Villaman shouted repeatedly. He later posted a video regretting his actions and apologizing to the cops.
