At National Palace vigil, doctors demand 5% of GDP for health

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Medical Association (CMD) is againstaging a vigil outside the National Palace on Thursday to demand thegovernment allocate 5% of GDP to thehealth sector, among other demands.

National Health Pact (PANASALUD) spokeswoman AnaliseCarvajal said the government has ignored their demands of a decent wage and pensionsfor physicians, she said the more than one year of protests, the government hasyet to respond.

The health professionals demand of 5% of GDP for the sectorhopes to achieve the success of the grassroots movement that obtained 4% of GDPfor that sector in legislation.
