Medina’s ex-chief campaign strategist gets 4+ years house arrest

Sao Paulo (O Globo).-  Federal Judge Sergio Moro, in charge of the proceedings of the Lava Jato scandal, on Monday convicted João Santana, former chief campaign strategist for president Danilo Medina, to 4 years and 6 months under house arrest, along with his wife Mónica Moura.

He also sentenced Marcelo Odebrecht to 12 years and 2 months, found guilty of corruption and money laundering as well as former minister Antonio Palocci, convicted on 19 counts of money laundering.

Federal Prosecutors charged Palocci with another felony in Curitiba. The former minister is accused of managing bribe payments from Odebrecht to former president Luis Inazio Lula da Silva.
