NYC vigil aims to safeguard Founding Father’s statue

Santo Domingo.- The Duartian Institute of New York called for a vigil on Sunday to demand that the statue of the Founding Father Juan Pablo Duarte be not removed in that city.

Bienvenido Lara and Juan Jimenez, president and general secretary of the city’s Duartian branch, said the vigil will take place on Canal St., corner of 6th Av. in Manhattan, from 2 to 5pm Sunday.

They invite lawmakers, community leaders, cultural activists, students and the public, to say “NO!, which must be said to the nefarious and muddled attempts to stain the immaculate memory of the Father of the Dominican nationality.”
