Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic exports to the United Kingdom will continue under preferential conditions, even once Brexit is completed, said industry and commerce minister Nelson Toca Simó on Tues.
The official said exports of Dominican products, such as tobacco, rum, coffee and medical instruments will continue to that market under preferential conditions, similar to those currently offered by the agreement with the European Union, even though UK has exited the bloc.
He said during a visit to London he met with counterpart, Greg Hands, to learn about the future of Dominican products, and “the minister has assured us that every effort will be made to maintain the same preferential conditions that we have with the EPA (economic preference agreement).”
Interviewed on Revista 110 Channel 13, Toca said EPA is an agreement within the group of countries of the States Forum of the ACP (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific) and the Caribbean (Cariforo) countries, signed in 2008, with the European Union.
