Joint U.S., Dominican military exercises slated for April

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic will host two humanitarian and civic exercises jointly with the U.S. Southern Command next year, called "Beyond the horizon."

U.S. medical personnel, the Dominican Defense Ministry and other agencies will take part in the activities slated to start in April, and will also have the support from several military engineers and military logistics experts.

The exercises will include the construction of clinics and schools in southwestern Barahona province and provide medical and dental services in other nearby communities.

Dominican Republic will host the annual "Tradewinds" regional and multinational sea and land security training exercise in June, with 15 nations of the Caribbean, Central America, South America, North America and Europe taking part.
