A 4.1 magnitude quake shakes north-central coast

Santo Domingo.- A 4.1 magnitude quake, 10 kilometers deep, was felt southeast of Nagua (north) Sunday, Santo Domingo State University (UASD) Seismology Dept., with no damages reported.

The United States geological service said it was a 4.6 magnitude tremor, and 8.4 kilometers deep.

The tremor at 10:05am Sunday was in Matancita, exactly where a 8.1 magnitude quake killed more than 2,000 people on August 4, 1946.

UASD seismologist Noel Jiménez said the showed the tremor was between Nagua and Las Terrenas, Samaná.
