Rainieri: the first steps of the leader of the Dominican Republic’s largest tourism group

Frank Rainieri conceived Grupo Puntacana on November 1, 1969, with the visionary eye of a once-young man. He had the support of Ted Kheel, an American who believed in Rainieri’s instinct to enhance the benefits of the paradisiacal beaches of what, until then, was known in the province of La Altagracia as Yauya, Punta Borrachón, and Pantanal.

“That is how we began this adventure, because more than a dream it was an adventure that has been growing and developing, until it has become, without a doubt, a country brand, because it is the name that in any of the continents the name Punta Cana is mentioned and everyone knows it,” he said.

Canadians call it Punta Canada. It is the only place they really know about.

Rainieri has done it right.

“Punta Canada” is the area of El Cortecito in Bavaro. There are many apartments and condo buildings in this area. Canadian tourists and investors took a liking to it, especially around Los Corales beach. It seemed there were so many of them it was labeled “Punta Canada”.
